A common and popular abbreviation for a Peltier element and Peltier cooler is TEC, which stands for &#8220;thermoelectric cooler.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, the so-called Peltier effect, which is used in a Peltier element, has the opposite relationship to the Seebeck effect: An electric current causes a corresponding heat transfer, whereas the Seebeck effect describes the creation of a thermoelectric voltage, resulting in a current and, to a lesser extent, heat transfer. The Peltier effect is described as an electric current, resulting in heat transfer and, to a lesser extent, a thermoelectric voltage. Both effects therefore always occur in a current-carrying thermocouple. However, the Peltier effect is difficult to detect in metallic thermocouples.
